Yes, teeth whitening is generally safe for sensitive teeth, but following our instructions is essential. Sensitivity may increase temporarily during or after whitening, especially if you already experience it. However, you can reduce discomfort by using toothpaste for sensitive teeth before and after whitening.

Process of Teeth Whitening
Professional Teeth Whitening Solution: To receive teeth whitening treatment, you should have structurally healthy teeth and gums. It is important to note that certain types of stains do not respond to teeth whitening treatment; however, we offer a full range of cosmetic solutions that can treat stained and discolored teeth, such as dental bonding, dental crowns, and porcelain veneers.
During your initial consultation, we will evaluate your smile and determine if teeth whitening or another cosmetic solution is right for you.
In-office teeth whitening is a quick, simple process. The first step is to protect the gums, lips, and soft tissue of your mouth. Next, we will carefully apply a bleaching gel to the tooth enamel and activate it using a special light. Professional bleaching agents penetrate the enamel and brighten the smile from the inside out.
On average, the whitening treatment takes about two hours. Our team makes every effort to ensure you are comfortable throughout all phases of your care.
Take-Home Teeth Whitening Trays: If you prefer to whiten your teeth at home, Dr. Jefferies offers take-home teeth whitening kits with custom trays. During your first visit, we will scan your teeth to create your custom trays. The impressions are sent to a local lab for fabrication. Once we receive your whitening trays, we will invite you back to our office to ensure they fit correctly.
After you have completed your take-home teeth whitening, in-office teeth whitening is offered as an add-on service. Both options offer exceptional results, so it is up to you to determine which solution best suits your needs.
