Dental Veneers

Porcelain veneers are a versatile cosmetic treatment that can improve the shape, color, and overall appearance of your teeth. Veneers are also known as instant orthodontics because they can help the teeth appear straight without the need for true orthodontics.

    Pain Level

The veneer process is typically not painful. Local anesthesia is often used to numb the area, making the procedure virtually painless. Some patients may have slight sensitivity or discomfort following the procedure, but it’s only temporary.

The Role of Dental Veneers

The strength and durability of dental veneers is comparable to natural tooth enamel, which makes them the ideal choice for patients who want to enhance their smile. Dental veneers are used to address many common cosmetic concerns, including:

  • Gaps between teeth
  • Misshapen teeth
  • Discolored or stained teeth
  • Chipped, fractured, and broken teeth
  • Uneven teeth
  • Misaligned or crooked teeth

Dental veneers offer natural-looking results. Dr. Jefferies can design and color-match your veneers to blend seamlessly with your natural smile. Veneers are a great solution to many cosmetic concerns because the bonding process makes them incredibly durable. As long as they are cared for properly, they are typically resistant to stain and decay.

Beautifully crafted dental veneers can restore beauty and function to your natural smile.

We use BioClear. Through minimally-invasive cosmetic bonding, we deliver the results of traditional veneers without removing enamel. A composite clear plastic wraps around the existing tooth to improve its shape or appearance.

What is the Process?

Receiving custom dental veneers will typically require two to three visits to our Herndon office.

Dental Veneers Consultation: For the best results, we will discuss your goals and expectations for your smile makeover and perform a full dental evaluation to ensure your teeth are structurally healthy.

Smile Design: After your evaluation and consultation, we will begin the smile design process. During this process, we will work with you to choose the right shade, shape, and overall appearance for your veneers.

Fabrication: Once a plan is established, we will work closely with a local dental lab technician to fabricate your dental veneers.

Placement: Once the veneers return from the lab, we will have a follow-up appointment to place them and make any adjustments to ensure a natural-looking, beautiful result.

  • What are porcelain veneers?

Dental veneers are ultra-thin shells that adhere to the front and sides of a tooth to create a more aesthetically pleasing smile. Veneers are generally made out of one of two materials: composite resin and dental porcelain. Each material can be manipulated to match the desired shade, shape, and overall appearance. In many cases, custom-made veneers are fabricated by a dental technician to ensure a high-quality, natural-looking result. We work closely with the technician to ensure it aligns with your smile makeover plan.

  • How do I know if I'm a candidate for dental veneers?

Dental veneers are best for people who fit the following guidelines:

    • Structurally healthy teeth
    • Do not clench or grind your teeth
    • Does not suffer from periodontal disease
    • Have obtainable goals for your smile

If you fit most but not all of these guidelines talk to our office about the benefits and risks for you with dental veneers.

  • How are veneers and Bioclear different?

Veneers and Bioclear improve smiles but differ in approach. Veneers involve permanently bonding custom porcelain shells to teeth, ideal for long-term cosmetic changes. Bioclear uses a minimally invasive, composite resin technique to close gaps and reshape teeth without enamel removal. Bioclear can be more affordable, but may require more frequent maintenance.
